* Clan News *

We start with some sad news this issue. One of our most loyal and dedicated members, DarkNinja, has unfortunately been forced to resign from the clan and return to the dreaded place known as “Real Life”. Ninja was heavily involved in both the playing and management side of the clan, and I’m sure many of you will have had the good fortune to make friends with him over the past year or so. However, all good things must come to an end and sadly, due to circumstances outside his control; Ninja’s stay with us has reached its conclusion. We all wish him the best of luck with his future endeavours. He will be sorely missed.

On a lighter note, if you haven’t checked out our hl2dm server 2 lately then get on over there and take a look. Silvermink’s been extremely busy this past month making numerous changes to the server such as mixing up the map rotation and changing the jetpack/hook settings among other things to make the server an even better place to hang out.

* Council/Grand Council Discussions *

Topics which the Council has been discussing this past month include: The poor behavior of 2 clan members, the abrupt departure of Dark Ninja, the intellectual maturity expected of applicants in regards to following the clan's application process, long forum signatures, a review of an event in the clan's history, clarification about who has what privileges on HL2DM server 2, an immature applicant, the legality of linking to external copyrighted content, changes to admin features of TF2 server 1, the definition of "clans" as it pertains to "multi-clanning", unstable TF2 Mani admin command, TF2 server update errors, and a temporary Source Mortar admin site problem.

Topics which the Grand Council has been discussing this past month include: The possible use of bots on the TF2 server, the reappearance of an old clan member, application processing, rules on multi-clanning, the compromise of a clan member’s forum account, the vouching integrity of clan members, a clan member complaint, a clan member’s forum activities, a possible expansion into Xbox Live gaming, a policy for dealing with “unfreezers” on HL2DM server 2, the ingame behaviour of a clan member, a premature re-application, the likely decommissioning of HL2DM server 3, Council member application handling, and the granting of build command privileges to non-members/applicants on HL2DM server 2.

* Recent and Upcoming Events *

On March 2nd we gave the GC & Council members vs Members TF2 event another shot and can you guess what happend? Council got their butts handed to them once again!! We sure have some skilled TF2 / DM players for not being a competitive clan! We also have some extremely creative members as well which in turn aided in creation of a very unique event within our HL2DM Fun Server called 'Cage Fighting", which is a 7 round crowbar & stun Stick fight enclosed in a custom made ring with 7 people. This was one of the most enjoyable and successful events ever played on HL2DM server 2. More details can be found in the Cage Match thread within the Battle Section.

There are currently 3 scheduled events:

DM: Sodo & Steell Team UP! 2v8 - TBD (s!x, MaX ,TD)
TF2: Assigned Charachters Per Map 8v8 - TBD (Intra-Clan)
TF2: Engineers Versus Spys 5v5 TBD (Intra-Clan)
TF2: Can you take out the 6 Engineers? 6v8 5/4/08 (Intra-Clan)

* Recent Donations For The Month Of March *

For the first time in 3 months we saw a noticeable drop in donation income in March. This makes the donations we did receive all the more important. If you see these folks be sure to thank them. In alphabetical order they are:

We encourage you to donate as you are able. It currently costs the clan $83.30 per month to maintain our servers. We can only add more servers when the donation pool rises to a level which provides the confidence we need to be sure that the next month's bills will be paid.

A recommended donation amount is $10, though we would encourage you to donate as much or as little as your personal financial situation allows. You may also consider how much you get back from the clan in terms of play time and overall fun. If you play an average of 1 hour per day, then a $10/month (not even pizza money!) donation works out to just ~$0.32/hour.

Every little bit helps!

For financial privacy concerns, we do not release the amounts which people have chosen to donate.

Do you have a well written informational piece on the subjects of clan culture or computer gaming you would like to share with the rest of the clan? If you do, simply find a Grand Council member in the forums and send your idea or your completed piece to them via a private message. Please be aware that not all articles can be included, and that all works are subject to editorial review.
