In This Issue....
Greetings Clan Member! Have you noticed anything about the clan lately? Something is missing. Can you guess what it is? We'll give you a minute to think about it......... Give up? That was pretty quick. Are you even trying? Seriously now, the thing that is missing is - Stress. Do you feel it? We feel it. No stress. Or at least, very little stress. The clan has settled in to a groove which enables it to move forward productively without being prone to a daily disturbance of drama. There are several reasons for this. One of which is that the folks who were prone to drama fits have found that the clan is not here to give them attention and they have moved on. Another reason is that the Council has evolved in to a well oiled machine of useful and productive members. We have a seriously superb Council right now. And lastly, the protocols for clan organization which we have been working so hard to hammer down over the past 6 months are finally bearing fruit. Changes are documented internally. Processes are well known and adhered to. Things just... work. It's really a great feeling to see things running so smoothly after working so hard to make that happen. This level of smooth operation is pretty rare in the world of gaming clans. It is something we have worked hard to achieve and we aren't going to waste it. We're going to use this new found groove and efficiency to move forward and expand the clan offerings available to members. To that end, we would like to hear your thoughts on what direction the clan should be taking, how you think we should accomplish that, and how we might raise the funds needed to accomplish our goals. Simply send a forum private message any of the Grand Council members and let us know what your ideas are. We may not get back to everyone, particularly if we get swamped with a lot of feedback all at once, but we will absolutely review everything you send us and bear it in mind moving forward. Finally, we would like to wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season! Celebrate with your friends and family, and party hard, but please party responsibly. Back To Table Of Contents... * Clan News * Ever found yourself desperately trying to get to a Blue Room, only to have your brains spread across the wall before you can find your way in? Well then we have the answer. Introducing the brand new Blue Room Guide! Compiled by our very own SilverMink and RiscIt (mostly SilverMink), this guide is your gateway to those brilliant blue havens. Keep your eye on this one as it may evolve into an all-purpose secrets guide in the future. In other news, the old clan steam group has been abandoned. But, never fear! We have a newer, better group already set up. You can find the clan page at http://steamcommunity.com/groups/soulsinexile. If you’re still in the old group please remove yourself and find a member to add you to the new one. If you can’t find anyone, contact a Grand Council member and we’ll get it set up for you. The clan website is being expanded to include profiles of each clan member. The overall goal is allow folks browsing the website to get a better idea of what types of people are in the clan, and help everyone to get to know each other better. Check out the Clan Only Chat section of the forums for full instructions on how to enter your profile. Set yours up today so that it is ready when that feature of the website goes live! We have recently added 2 new servers - one Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, the other Team Fortress 2. They are being hosted by InterFix Communications, the hosting business owned by our own Grand Council member RiscIt, on a trial basis and they are currently for private clan member use only. Back To Table Of Contents... * Council/Grand Council Discussions * Topics which the Grand Council has been discussing this past month include: whether or not to add a private server for clan use only, reviewing and ultimately rejecting a proposal for a private party sponsored server, and revising the protocol for making changes to the clan database to help better track changes. Topics which the Council has been discussing this past month include: a controversial clan application, the recent behavior of 2 clan members, the new clan Steam group, and the compilation of the Blue Room guide. Back To Table Of Contents... * Schedule of Upcoming Events * As we're sure you’re all aware, =s!x= recently took part in a clan scrimmage with the highly regarded {MaX} clan. The scrimmage went very well, so well in fact that we’ve decided to make it a regular thing. You can check out all the details in the {MaX} Clan Bi-Weekly Scrimmage Thread. =s!x= has also had a battle proposal from the Skul`Shock Hamr`clan, which is still being fleshed out. Details of this possible event can be found in the battle proposal thread. Last, but not least, our battle manager SoDo is setting up an intra-clan battle between our American and European members. Five players from America will battle it out with five Europeans to win the right to rub their victory in the other team’s faces. Back To Table Of Contents... * Recent Donations For The Month Of November * This past month did not see much in the way of donations, but the 2 which were received are very much appreciated. If you see these folks be sure to thank them. In alphabetical order they are:
A recommended donation amount is $10, though we would encourage you to donate as much or as little as your personal financial situation allows. You may also consider how much you get back from the clan in terms of play time and overall fun. If you play an average of 1 hour per day, then a $10/month (not even pizza money!) donation works out to just ~$0.32/hour. Every little bit helps! For financial privacy concerns, we do not release how much people choose to donate. Back To Table Of Contents... * A Request For Feedback On HL2DM Server 2 * Council member SilverMink, who has been charged with the duty of maintaining HL2DM Server 2, is looking for some feedback. The server is currently running co-op, puzzle, build, and role-playing maps, and exists for the purpose of providing non-deathmatch game types in the HL2DM Source engine. If you have any ideas or requests simply drop him a line in the forums via private message and he will get back to you pretty quick.
